Equivalent CO2 Emission and Cost Analysis of Green Self-Compacting Rubberized Concrete

Global warming and climate changes are the major environmental challenges globally. With CO2 emission being one of main greenhouse gases emitted to environment, cement concrete production amounting about 10% global emission, there is a need for construction industry utilize an environmentally sustainable material as alternative cement. This study analyzed cost, strength properties green self-compacting (SCC) ternary blend containing fly ash, calcium carbide residue (CCR), crumb rubber (CR) replacement by volume cement, cementitious material, fine aggregate, respectively. Cement was replaced with ash at 0% 40% volume. CCR used 5% materials, CR aggregate in proportions 20% The result indicated that mix most expensive had highest emission. However, CR, lowest therefore greenest SCC mix. 28-day maximum compressive 45 MPa achieved CCR, while utmost splitting tensile 4.1 flexural 28 days 6.7 also obtained CCR. In conclusion, can be produced substituting which highly affordable has acceptable recommended conventional SCC.
